I attended the
MTV charity Fashion Show during Fashion on Thursday February 6, 2014. The show was to
benefit Mike Jean's Hope for Them Foundation, which is a non-profit organization that contributes to "the survival of the poor, the sick, children, adults, the needy, the physically challenged or anyone touched by natural disasters."
The show featured designs by Pamela Quinzi and Giovanni Lo Presti. There was also a lingerie show at the end by designer Natasha which featured a very talented belly dancer. Before the show started there was a very talented violinist (pictured below) who did a great rendition of Lauren Hill's "Killing me Softly." The fashions were were not my taste persay, they tended to be on the cheesy and over the top side but I could give credit to the designers for a decent effort.
There were a few minor things that I did not like, the crowd and face control outside was kind of unorganized and had much more of a club feel than a fashion feel but being that the Highline Ballroom was staying open until 4am I could understand that. Another issue was the doors opened around 9pm and the show didnt start untill about 10:45, talk about a lot of downtime! Lastly Sway Calloway from MTV who was advertised as the host was not there at all!
To conclude I can say this was a decent show and I am sure if this is a yearly event, it will be sure to keep getting better! Thank you MTV, Hope for Them and
Prive, which was the organization and brain power behind the event.
